Deryn Trainer

Our Entertainment Director and resident Piano Man Deryn Trainer winner of NZ Stars in their Eyes.
If you want laughter, fun, great music and a fantastic party...Deryn is the best choice to come and see
He has played with too many artists to mention, toured extensively and can make a damn fine cup of tea.
The best piano man in his own lounge at any given time!!!
A wonderful voice that can only be compared to a damp concrete mixer.
Distinctly average middle order batsman.
Come and party with NZ's own Billy Joel and Elton John piano expert
Georgia Wood
Georgia Wood is an exceptional singer and entertainer who has worked internationally in musical theatre, jazz, soul and cabaret. A long-time friend and co-performer with Deryn the musical chemistry and fun they have performing together is infectious and she welcomes the chance to share this with the regulars of the Ivory Lounge.
Her repertoire is polished, perfected and particular, her presentation impeccable with classic soul, pop and jazz standards interpreted from a place of discernment, intelligence, joy, and wit.
She recently recorded favourite songs for her debut album, Happenstance, with Standard Funk Ensemble, a collection of some of Auckland finest jazz musicians and produced by award-winning producer Chris Nielson. www.georgiawood.co.nz

Richard Mays, Guardian March 2010
“Georgia On My Mind indeed ... subtly beautiful ... Impossible to doubt her versatility and skill when handling a range of musical styles ... full of flair and personality”
David Collins, Evening Standard March 2010
“Georgia Woods' vibrant voice and dynamic presence sails with ease and versatility through a lively and entertaining parade of famous blondes. There is never a dull moment in 50 minutes of high octane singing and witty presentation - don't miss it."
Max Cryer, reviewing ‘Highlights – the blondes & their songs’ February 2010
Andy Keys
Andy is a versatile and sought after musician with many years of experience as a pianist, singer, keyboardist and instrumentalist. Initially a classically trained pianist and graduate of the University of Auckland, Andy turned his attention towards the hot stage lights of rock and roll after many unsuccessful years of trying to find a gig.
Stylistically adept, Andy plays metal to classical, jazz to rock and funk to electronic. His performing career has taken him all over the world, from restaurants in London, to hotels in Japan, and from the King’s Palace in Tonga to the Rugby 7’s in Dubai.
Andy is endorsed by Yamaha and also travels the country as one of Yamaha’s product demonstrators. At this current point in time, this is restricted to musical instruments, but to this day he’s working on the motorcycle and outboard motor deal.
Andy hosted his own TV show ‘Chillin’ with Leys and Keys’ on Juice TV. He was joined every week by some of the finest NZ artists and had a few good jams with them on the way.
If you see him here at Ivory, you know it’s gonna be a good night, so lock up your daughters and get out the Jagermeister
You can find out more about Andy at his website: www.andykeysmusic.com
Mal McCallum

Songwriter, guitarist and keyboard player, performs tunes from Crowded House, James Taylor, Van Morrison and a whole range of easy listening through to more uptempo pop classic rock, blues and swing favourites, and get the party going !!!
Mal's original songs cover a number of influences, from folk to reggae, blues, ballads, rock and pop.
They are songs about the heart, the journeys we all share, the roads travelled, and are generally of a positive and up lifting nature. Mal feels somewhat personally responsible for the Great Folk Music Scare of the 60's & 70's
Murray Hancox
As a young lad, Murray (Muzz) first musical experiences were growing up listening to the steam driven wireless (prior to electricity...now know as the radio) Early inspiration came from constantly listening to the BBC (this was due to his Father strapping the wireless to his head to improve reception) Muzz has toured with Cliff Richard, Boney M, Don McLean, Gerry & The Pacemakers and English comic Pam Ayres amongst many others.
Whilst playing on the Gold Coast won the NRTV Queensland ~Sound of the Year award.
In 1974 Murray had the honour of playing for the Queen Mother in England....(she was a cardboard cut out at the time) Murray has also played at venues such as The L.A. Orange County Fair, the famous Palamino Club in Hollywood, Billy Bob's in Dallas, Beaver Run Resort in Colorado and in Japan, Thailand and in New Caledonia.
Murray has also been a member of many New Zealand & Australian bands and was a member of Coup Detat.
A repertoire is huge and consists of great songs from the 60's and 70's through to today featuring The Beatles, Ray Charles, Spike Milligan, Barbara Cartland and everyone else in between. Ballads to Rock N' Roll - A night with Murray is an absolute guarantee to make a great, fun night to remember. More details can be found here here
That was the BBC...thank you and good night!
Larry Killip
Larry Killip, veteran performer/producer with all his own hair and hardly a grey streak in sight. Some say Peter Pan, some say Hobbit, some who are privy to inside information say he's the man behind many a classic jingle aired on NZ television over the last 2 decades.
The thing is....Larry Killip is simply a refreshingly polished entertainer performing a great blend of tasty originals and eclectic classic songs. Check him out on Youtube, iTunes or visit his website www.larrykillip.com, or better still catch him at the Ivory lounge top of Parnell Rd sometime...and buy him a beer!
Peter Hale
Peter Hale (P.H) has been involved with piano bars since the 1980’s, having played at the Station Hotel and setting up the Memphis bar and grill in Parnell as a piano bar in the 90’s.
With his own trio, the Lounge Associates, he has had residencies at Iguacu and Euro at the viaduct as well as the Reef Bar in Mission Bay and New Brew bar in Albany. P.H has also been musical director for the Peter Urlich Swinging Sextet for the last 19 years.
PH’s style is very much one of audience involvement, so bring your singing voices along when he’s there.
Participation is mandatory; Resistance is Futile!
Lisa Crawley
Singer, songwriter & multi-instrumentalist Lisa Crawley is a unique talent in New Zealand. She has travelled the world with her music and played in every manner of environment, from dodgy pub gigs to the VIP Lounge at the Ritz in London, to 5-star hotels in Japan, to just about every available space back at home.
Until last year, 22 year-old Lisa was living in London, playing her own songs and also as part of Rodney Fisher's (ex- Goodshirt) live band - playing keys, guitar and even banjo! Upon her return, she quickly re-established herself as a known presence in the Auckland music scene.
Now, having already self-released one EP of original material (Shoot the Night), Lisa has recently released her second EP (Hello, Goodbye, and Everything Inbetween). The latter was recorded with her versatile live band "The Conversations" - featuring members of The Hot Grits, The Subterranes, The Mint Chicks - to name but a few.
Most often seen at the piano, Lisa is just as au fait with the guitar, melodica, clarinet, glockenspiel, omnichord, and yes - the recorder! With a sound that can't be pinned to one genre, Lisa cites her musical inspirations as including Cat Power, Regina Spektor, Bic Runga, Sufjan Stevens, Beirut, and much more.
With a live show that incorporates elements of jazz, country, pop, indie and a charmingly dry wit, Lisa is a lover of life and music who defies definition.
Frank Barnes and Andrew Miller
Frankie Goes To Ponsonby regularly teams up with Andrew 'The Lips' Miller to bash out his songs. A fine blend of edgy tunes and lyrics coupled with Miller's seriously mean sax riffs will keep your toe tapping and ears tuned. A magic combination not to be missed, make sure you catch them at there best.
Live and loose.
